CASE STUDY - AI IN REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

Compliance is more than a requirement; it's part of how businesses build trust and operate responsibly. As expectations grow, businesses are asked to ensure that job roles align with permitted activities and that employment contracts reflect clear, fair clauses. These steps may seem routine, but they shape the foundation of a transparent and accountable workplace. And as the regulatory landscape becomes more dynamic, the need for more reliable approaches continues to grow.

THE CHALLENGE
In practice, compliance becomes most overwhelming when regulations intersect with real-world operations, even experienced professionals often rely on subject matter experts to interpret and apply evolving rules effectively.
Take job role selection, where regulators often need to verify that requested job roles are compatible with a business’s licensed activities, a process that is still handled manually or, in most cases, skipped altogether. But for many businesses, interpreting and applying these requirements isn’t straightforward. The link between a job role and a licensed activity can be unclear, especially without proper guidance. This uncertainty leads some to rely on guesswork or assumptions, resulting in mismatches that might trigger workforce conflicts, or even penalties, often without the business fully realizing where things went wrong.
Contract review adds another layer of difficulty, not just for businesses, but for individuals being offered job roles. Businesses sometimes customize contracts with added clauses that may unintentionally conflict with regulations. Also from the candidate's side, it's often difficult to understand whether what they're being asked to sign fully complies with laws or not.
These gaps carry real consequences. Conflicts, rework, and uncertainty can follow, especially as volumes grow. For all parties involved, ensuring clarity and alignment from the start is essential, but increasingly tough to achieve without support.
THE APPROACH
Rather than adding more manual checkpoints, we focused on embedding intelligence into the process itself. At first, the goal was to help identify non-compliant patterns more effectively. Over time, it evolved into a smarter way to make compliance proactive rather than reactive.
We began by addressing the challenge of aligning job roles with licensed business activities. This verification process used to be time-consuming and prone to human error, especially at scale. By introducing Large Language Models (LLMs) and Advanced Analytics, we developed an AI mapping engine capable of analyzing the correlation between job role and business economic activity in real-time. This engine didn’t just flag inconsistencies; it provided actionable insights by notifying businesses when the job role didn’t align with their licensed activity, guiding them to choose a more appropriate alternative. As the solution matured, it moved beyond flagging violations to support early detection and prevention, helping regulators strengthen oversight before issues could escalate and paving the way for businesses to remain compliant with greater clarity and transparency.

Next came contract review. The concern here wasn’t just detecting non-compliant clauses but also helping businesses understand why certain clauses might conflict with regulations. To solve this, we integrated an intelligent assistant powered by Semantic Search and LLMs into the contract drafting process. This assistant reviewed contract clauses in real time, offering clear explanations and flagging potential issues. By leveraging the reasoning capabilities of LLMs, businesses could correct problematic clauses early, and individuals gained greater visibility into their contractual rights with confidence and clarity.
All of that aims for our goal of simplifying the process in a way that preserved compliance while making it clearer and more accessible for everyone involved, ultimately contributing to a more transparent labor market.

THE IMPACT
With these solutions in place, the shift in compliance operations became evident at scale. Businesses no longer had to wait days for clarification, they could now receive reliable, real-time review, and accelerate decisions while staying aligned with evolving regulations. The effort required to review and align job roles dropped significantly, allowing oversight teams to act faster and more consistently.
Our AI mapping engine now supports real-time review of over 300,000 monthly requests, ensuring alignment between job roles and each business’s licensed activities, all while being designed with scalability in mind. This shift didn’t just catch issues, it helped prevent them from happening in the first place.
In contract review, the intelligent assistant covers over 750,000 contracts per month, each potentially containing up to 25 additional clauses customized by businesses. While contract creation process allows these additional clauses, some may unintentionally conflict with regulations. This feature allows businesses to independently review their contracts and gain assurance that no added clause violates labor law by flagging such issues early and providing clear explanations.
Compliance became smarter and more transparent. With AI guiding key decisions, businesses operated with greater clarity, regulators gained sharper oversight, and individuals could trust the process more. What began as a challenge became a source of confidence.
